An intro to Pinterest.

When I grow up I want a big castle with lots of rooms that I can decorate. I want to be the most beautiful princess with all sorts of outfits and that I can pick from. I want to make delicious food that will blow my friends minds. Sound familiar? Well it does to me. This sounds like me as a child…and me on Pinterest. This is what Pinterest essentially fulfills for people.

From the Pinterest website:
"Pinterest is a virtual pinboard. Pinterest lets you organize and share all the beautiful things you find on the web. People use pinboards to plan their weddings, decorate their homes, and organize their favorite recipes. Best of all, you can browse pinboards created by other people."

The way Pinterest works:

  1. Register by invitation.
    1. There is no automatic registering on the website. You have to request an invitation, either from someone you know or from the site itself.

  1. Create "pinboards" organized by what you are interested in.
    1. Categories can include recipes, weddings, do it yourself projects, and fashion
    2. You can create a pinboard of whatever you want. You have the option to make and name as many pinboards as you want. Pinterest offers set options to start, but you are in control of what you pin and where you pin it. Pinboards are simply to help you organize your pins; if you wanted, you don't have to pin anything or categorize your pins at all.

  1. Start pinning. There are two ways to pin:
    1. Pinning
      1. You also have the option of uploading or starting your own pin. You can upload a picture from your computer, or paste a URL to find the images from that site to pin. Or, you can attach a simple add-on to your browser so a convenient "Pin It" button appears on your toolbar, allowing you to click it and pin an image from whatever page you are on.
    2. Repinning
      1. Any photo you see on Pinterest has already been "pinned" by someone else. By hovering over the picture, you can repin it to any of your boards with a simple click! This will also allow you to change the text the previous pinner has added below the picture to describe it.

There is much much more to Pinterest but this is a start. Once you start Pinterest it keeps you on pins and needles!
